CedricCedric was born on 17/3/2014, he was imported from Switzerland in the autumn of 2014.
Cedric is a gentle giant and adores fuss and attention. He will stand for hours to be stroked and brushed and loves it if you scratch behind his horns. He is in training to be a show sheep and will spend his summer travelling around to county agricultural shows. With his stunning looks and love of being in the limelight I will be getting Cedric an agent and putting him through some basic clicker training, so hopefully he can find work as a model or "actor" |
PetraPetra was born on 17/3/2011 in Switzerland, she was imported to the UK in the autumn of 2014.
Petra is the matriarch of the group, she is the biological mother of Minka and she adopted Uschi at just a few hours old, when Uschi's real mum rejected her. She is a very relaxed sheep, she takes everything in her stride and looks out for all members of the flock. She loves her grub and will let you know all about it if she's hungry with her booming bleat! |
Bodmin "Minnie"Bodmin was born on 12/10/2014 in Liskeard, Cornwall and is registered as Leona
Bodmin, or "Minnie" for short, was named after the Bodmin moors that she grew up on. She wasn't handled much growing up so was a little nervous when she first arrived, but with lots of fuss and gentle handling she is coming around. She is one of the chattiest sheep in the group and can always be heard bleating away to anyone who will listen. |
LiquoriceLiquorice was born on 8/10/2014 in Liskeard, Cornwall.
Liquorice was hand reared by Emma Collison at Moorview Alpacas and even now she still loves milk, she gets all excited when she sees a bottle and waits hopefully at the end of the queue of lambs in case there is some left over for her. |
MinkaMinka was born on 15/2/2015. She is Petra's daughter.
Minka is an excellenct example of the breed, she is large and confident for her age with very striking markings and good features, these are the things that judges will look for when showing sheep so she may become part of the Wayfaring show team along with Cedric when she is old enough. She is a lively lamb that takes an interest in everything that goes on around her. UschiUschi was born on 15/2/2015. She was raised be Petra, but is not her biological offspring.
Uschi is very quiet and gentle, she is lovely to cuddle as she goes limp like a ragdoll once she is settled comfortably in your arms. She is smaller than her adopted sister Minka but she does her best to keep up with her, they can often be seen playing chase the chickens together around the farm. |
Uggy, Titus, Sophie, Teggy, Bosco and Noggin
Uggy, Titus, Sophie, Teggy, Bosco and Noggin are my other non-VBN sheep.
Uggy, Titus and Sophie were my first sheep, I hand reared them from a week old in 2009. Uggy is a charolais-cross and his name originally was 'Ugly' as although he had a lovely personality, he was one of the ugliest lambs I'd ever seen!! Since he's grown in to his features though he is very handsome with a broad face and lovely chestnut coloured fur. He is the friendliest sheep in the world and will follow anyone around his field demanding cuddles and attention. He will try to climb on your lap and nibble your nose if given half a chance! Titus is a suffolk-cross, he is very handsome and dignified and really quite aloof with people, but you can soon win him over with a packet of custard creams! Suffolks aren't a particularly gregarious breed and so Titus tends to do his own thing independent of the flock. Sophie is a very sweet little cross-breed, she is very gentle with people, but being the smallest doesn't stop her keeping the boys in check - they can be a bit rude to her sometimes but she soon puts them back in their place. |
Teggy is half southdown, a quarter shetland and a quarter herdwick. This unusual mixture gives her a very unique appearance and a rather bizarre dachshund-like physique. She is a wonderful mum and when she's had lambs in the past she has always ended up acting as nanny for the entire flock, and would often be seen with a dozen lambs gathered round playing chase around her or jumping on and off her back or just snuggling up to her for a snooze, while their real mums had some peace and quiet grazing in the distance. She joined my flock when she retired from breeding.
Bosco and Noggin are both suffolk-crosses. Bosco belongs to Jo Betteley but lives with my flock; we hand reared them in 2011. They are bolshy boys who love to play together. They are very friendly, although Noggin lives by his stomach and won't stick around for long if there isn't much food on offer to him, Bosco on the other hand loves to be scratched on the top of his head and will stand for ages to have this done.
